These natural, untreated water opals from Ethiopia are a specific type of hydrophane opal that becomes clear and changes weight when wet, I was so excited when I found these from a husband and wife team from Welo, their energy and the energy of the opals were wonderful I had to include a photo of them.
I was really excited at their potential for crystal gridding, as the water they are held in can be charged, replaced with different sacred water mixes to enhance and activate the stones in such a beautiful way. We all know water holds our memories, so combining water with a crystal grid in the way feels magical. The best way to work with them in a grid would be to speak to the waters and stone and work with is as a central focus stone in a grid. The opals light and frequency infuses the water with intent and I feel this combination can be hight activating for unlocking and activating remembrance and cellular memory and the memory and healing capacity of your waters.
I have never had these before, they have been dry opals previously, these water opals have a different quality, they are ALIVE in the water and their life force energy is so strong.
This piece has what's called an 'egg' within it, symbolising new beginnings, new life, love, the incubation period of change. It has a very pure, fresh energy.
The Welo opal fields of Ethiopia have become world-famous for producing some of the finest gem-quality opals since their discovery in the late 2000s. Known as the ‘eye stone’ dedicated to the eyes, it soothes any eye complaints, strengthening the sight, and any diseases of the eye. Due to its water content and the way it was created it can support the body's water content, overcoming dehydration, or supporting water retention.

Care for your opal.
Every few weeks you will notice a white residue forming, this is salt, created by the stone (very cool, its like its really alive) you can take the rubber cork off and drain the water, clean with warm water and refill with your blessed and sacred waters until the next clean. The family I purchased them from who work directly with the mine, they said you can also put a a dot of water soluble glue on the rubber to secure the opal in place if you felt to.
